World 4 x 400 champion confirms for 800
Morton Games are delighted to have the commitment of Chris Giesting for this year’s Morton Games. Giesting was a member of the USA 4 x 400 World indoor winning team at the 2016 World Indoor Championships in Portland, Oregan. Giesting has a 400 PB of 45.53, however, under coach Frank Gagliano at the New York New Jersey track club is making the transition from top class quarter miler to top class half miler. He has already lowered his PB over the 800 to 1.47.16 as recently as the 19th of May and is aiming to go even faster as the season progresses. The World Champion will go in the 800 at Morton Games.
Also confirmed for the 800 is Giesting`s New Jersey New York Track Club team mate Jesse Garn. Garn, a sub 4 minute miler, has an impressive CV that includes a 4th place finish at the 2015 NCAA`s, he was a qualifier for last year`s US Olympic trails and an excellent 800 PB of 1.45.82.
Ireland`s Zak Curran impressed greatly at last year`s Morton Games running a PB of 1.46.78 in placing 2nd behind Kyle Langford (GBR), is also a confirmed starter. This was a breakthrough performance for the English based DSD athlete, who represented Ireland at the European Indoors earlier in the year. The organisers are also very hopeful that Langford will be back in Santry to defend his title.
