USA Rio Olympian Charles Jock confirmed for 800
USA Rio Olympian Charles Jock is a confirmed starter in the Muscle Clinic 800 metres. Jock was born in an Ethiopian refugee camp. His family made their way to the United States where they were granted asylum and he became a United States citizen. Jock enjoyed a superb collegiate career and was the NCAA 2012 800 champion. In 2016 he finished 3rd in the US trials and qualified for the United States team and proudly took his place on the world stage in Rio later that summer. His PB stands at 4.44.67 with a seasons best of 1.46.54.
Also competing in the 800 next week will be on his second visit to Morton Games Harun Abda (USA), an athlete with a 1.45.55 PB. Former 400 specialist and world indoor 2016 4 x 400 gold medallist Chris Giesting also goes in the 800 along with his NYNJ track club teammate Jesse Garn. Garn set his best 800 in May a speedy 1.45.82.
Coming back to defend his title is Great Britain’s former European Junior champion Kyle Langford (PB 1.45.78), Langford took the 800 at last year’s Meet in a blanket finish which took nearly 30 minutes for the judges to separate the top three. Only last weekend he finished second in the British Trials.
Ireland’s Eoin Everard drops down from the Mile to the 800 and will certainly be looking for a new PB on the night also confirmed is three time Barbados national champion Anthonio Mascoll who has a 1.47.0 PB and is pretty fast also over 400 having ran a season’s best of 46.78.
Others will be confirmed over the coming days.
