The two athletes who have dominated the 400 hurdles in New Zealand in recent years will both be on the start line on July 12th in the 400 hurdles at Morton Games.  Both athletes have been previous visitors to Morton Games but this is the first time that both will be on the start line together in Santry. Mike Cochrane was the winner of the 400 hurdles in Santry in 2015.  Later that season he ran his PB of 49.58 at the World Championships in Beijing.  Cochrane is a two time national champion but over 110h. In the 400 hurdles themselves he has finished in runner up spot in the New Zealand National Championships on three occasions.

The current New Zealand 400H champion is Cameron French, French is a three time national champion, 2014, 2015 and 2017 who competed at last year’s Morton Games, and only a couple of week`s back recorded his current SB of 49.97 at the Loughborough International not far shy of his 49.72 PB.

Spectators will watch with great interest to see which of the Kiwi duo comes out on top.
