Morton Games is delighted to have back in Santry Manteo Mitchell (USA). Manteo has previously competed at Morton Games on two occasions and comes back for a third 400.  Manteo is well known as the athlete who bravely in the London Olympic 4 x 400 semi-finals managed to complete his leg on the USA team despite having sustained a broken leg!  Even more impressive was the fact that the US 4 x 400 team that day set a new record for the fastest time recorded in an Olympic semi-final.  The team subsequently went on to take Olympic silver.  Mitchell has a 400 PB standing at 44.96 and a seasons best, to date, of 46.85.

Home favourite Brian Gregan of Clonliffe Harriers will have his eyes on winning the Loki Sports 400. Gregan has been in excellent form and was a recent winner in Geneva in a season’s best of 45.75.  His Clonliffe Harriers and Irish 4 x 400 relay teammate Luke Lennon-Ford is also one who will be in the mix.  Lennon-Ford formerly competed for Great Britain and was a member of Team GB’s 4 x 400 2012 Olympic Team, in 2017 changed his allegiance to Ireland, his mother is from Sligo, and will run on the Irish team along with Gregan at the European Team Championships this weekend.  One Irish athlete whose progress will be watched with great interest is young Christopher O’Donnell of North Sligo A.C., he recently won the All Ireland Schools Championships and runs his final race prior to the European Juniors at Morton Games.

Also currently confirmed is Conrad Williams (GBR) a multi 4 x 400 relay medallist and Anderson Henriques (BRA) an athlete with a 44.95 pb and an sb of 45.93

The field will be finalised over the course of the next couple of weeks. In addition to the Loki Sports race there will be a B race, that race likewise is packed with talent. The final start lists will be confirmed on the eve of Morton Games.
