Ciara Mageean chases the win and sub 2
Ireland’s European bronze medallist Ciara Mageean will go head to head once again with Alex Bell (GBR). Last year’s 800 was possibly the race of the night with both athletes neck and neck until the finish line when the British athlete proved slightly the stronger.
Mageean, however, as part of her London 1500 preparations will line up in tonight’s 800 full of confidence with the possibility of breaking that elusive 2 minute barrier very much in mind. To do so in the Morton Games would be truly superb.
There is a world class field assembled for the 800 including the World Universities Champion from 2015 Angie Petty (NZD) who has a PB of 1.59.06. Also confirmed is Cecilia Barowski (USA) PB 2.01.52, Scotland’s Emily Dudgeon – 2.01.89, a regular at Morton Games, Adelle Tracey (GBR) who also chases that sub 2 minute with a PB of 2.00.35 and who last weekend booked her place on Team GB for the World Championships, Canada`s Annie LeBlanc, a training partner of Melissa Bishop, who ran 2.01.56 on June 11th, Kat Camp (NZD) 2.02.70 and emerging Irish talent Claire Mooney, pb 2.04.64.
